FUN LOVING DETECTIVES - Promotional

Theatre buffs Guido Gerard & Cyril Holtkamp asked me to create a detective-themed promotional film for their company ‘Fun Loving Detectives’. Their company offers a theatre experience like no other; a murder mystery carefully curated to specific locations and clients.
The challenge here was to mimic a style that hints at classic murder mystery films such as Agatha Christie’s Poirot.

The fact that we had an entire castle at our disposal surely didn’t hurt…

DE MELKER - Web Series (in production)

For the past year I’ve set out to research the Dutch housing crisis and the stories revolving it. The outcome is a fictional web-series called ‘De Melker’. In De Melker we follow Sarah, who finds herself split between her newfound ideology and her background when she, together with her new boyfriend Joebeau, finds out about a horrific conspiracy involving a tyrannical landlord that she happens to know all too well.

EINDJE VAN DE WEEK - Comedy Sketches

Mike Weerts, Creative Director of Studio040 and initiator of the pilot-talkshow “Eindje van de Week”, approached me with an offer I couldn’t refuse. Weekly one-to-two minute sketches related to every episode’s subject or theme. The challenge was a perfect fit for my style of filmmaking: quick, dirty yet clever and well thought out. Keep in mind that I had only a week to concept & produce each episode. In this project I did all of the production, animation, camera, edit, you name it.

IRIS PENNING - Short Poetry Film

My mornings consist mostly of taking a stroll to the swimming pool to get some exercise. One morning, as I was looking out of the pool windows, I saw how the outside pool was being demolished. This touched me, for the outdoor pool was a place that carried many memories for me. And so it did for our city poet Iris Penning. We immediately jumped on the opportunity and on a snowy day in March 2023 we went out to create a requiem for this memorylane.

HOBOJOBOS - Woonprotestlied

In solidarity with the national housing crisis, lead singer Joebeau from the HOBOJOBOS wrote this protest anthem. As our interests in this housing crisis overlapped, I decided to capture Joebeau’s raw spirit for the subject in this music video. Our project gained interest from national television. The program ‘Nachtdieren’ came to visit a gig we organized in a squatted house. As you can see in the film, the dutch squatter’s movement is gaining more and more traction. This caused us to shoot during the historic housing protest 26th of February in Amsterdam.

F16 GEMS - Brand Video

After having created the logo for toothgem company ‘F16 GEMS’, the owner asked me to create a multifunctional brand video. One that could be split into parts and used in social media campaigns throughout the year. The video represents the ‘bad b*tch’-lifestyle; going out with your girls, having fun and going about causing mischief.

Toothgems are small diamants in all shapes and sizes that can be placed on teeth for longer amounts of time.

STUDIO HEDWICH HOOGHIEMSTRA - Research Video

Dutch Design Award-Nominee Hedwich Hooghiemstra commissioned me to help her portray the beginning of her project researching the accessibility of ‘Huis Sonneveld’ for ‘Het Nieuwe Instituut’. This video had the goal of laying out the goals for this research project with clarity and grace. I shot, edited and graded this video as well as recorded the voice-over. The music was composed by Dylan Greene.

Buckle Up a.k.a. Baklap - Film

What do you do when you’re in a global pandemic, and you see all your clients slowly fading away because of lack of budget? You pick the last remaining client, and go HAM. That’s exactly how this beast of a project came into existence. Many of the cast & crewmembers of this interactive film-project felt they needed to spend their time wisely, and so they did; with this project we intended to push our limits in the fields of technical skill, endurance and ambition. Mike Weerts - FVK ‘N VMSTRDVM

In light of my upcoming mid-length film we came up with the idea to let one of the main characters rap a comedic homage to the city of Eindhoven (also a major character in the film). After sending in the track to local song-competition ‘The Sound of Eindhoven’ we received a lot of response from locals and gained a spot in the Top 5 Audience Award. This led us to perform the song live on stage and create this music video, tying it to the renowned football match PSV-AJAX, ending the video with a slight teaser for the upcoming film. The music video stars multiple local stars such as Fresku, Frank Lammers, Henk van Straten, Sharon Kovacs, Dikke Dennis & Johan Vlemmix.

Hallywood 25 - Livestream Show

During the COVID pandemic I was involved in creating weekly video content for the unique live-stream show “Hallywood 25”.
The wildly spectacular artist’ hub located in Alkmaar, HAL25, started this livestream show as a means to support art during these times of crisis.

I was responsible for making the promotional teasers and the weekly item ‘Groeiend Verlangen’ during the first seasons (8 episodes).

An Evening With Knives - Music Video

After having lots of fun making a crowdfunding promo together. The band expressed their desire to work with me on a serious project. They came up to me with the lyrics to the song “Sacrifice”. Since the lyrics had a very critical tone towards religion, I could not stop myself thinking of my own religious experiences, which are subtly embedded throughout the course of the film. The greatest challenge of making this film were the Special FX shots, we actually had to build an extra floor in one of the set’s rooms in order to pull off the ‘tilting world’ shot. The other ‘tilting’ world shot was created with a large custom-built wooden construction, which let the camera tilt 180 degrees over Arno who was praying at his bedside.

Citymarketing bureau Eindhoven365 asked me to create a film that expressed the vibe I associated most with the city of Eindhoven. So as I started researching, I found out that there’s not much to be found on the origins of this town. So I decided to fill in the gaps in a manner that suits today’s tendencies; a lot of newcomers from all over the globe.

Iris Penning - Music Video

The Dutch cultural industry has, during this COVID-19 lockdown, suffered many repercussions. In this video, Iris wanted to show the empty streets, halls and theaters of Eindhoven. This way she wanted to give the repercussions a strong image. So that people know what they’re missing. In making this video it was hard not to get sentimental about the past months. And still I wonder if we can ever visit the theaters and music halls in the same way we did before COVID-19.

Joost Hoekaf - Music Video

After seeing and hearing Joost Hoekaf spit bars in a manner that I’d never witnessed before, I decided to contact him to see if he might need an interesting music video. He was thrilled and literally asked me if I’d fallen out of heaven. After he’d sent me the EP he was about to release, I immediately had ideas for what to do with it. In this music video I tried to express the ‘boyish’ quality that rap music can take on. This is a little revenge story where the boys strike back at the girls.
